Dear Allen,
We haven’t seen much of Japan yet. We saw the airport and the train stations with mobs of people. If it weren’t for the funny squiggly signs and taxis that race madly down the wrong side of the street—oh, yes, and millions of short, black-haired people—I’d not imagine I was in Japan.
Terri doesn’t want to fall in love with Japan and doesn’t want to get that involved but does anyway. Terri doesn’t want to fall in love with Allen and starts out signing her letters with “take care” and things like that—but ends up signing them differently.
Terri fears she can’t witness effectively in modern, sophisticated Japan but runs into some surprises with names like Yoko, Chiyomi, Miyako, and Setsuko. The fascinating true story of a student missionary in today’s Japan.
