Much water has gone under the bridge since Charles Darwin gave the world his theory of the origin of species by natural selection. The tides of discussion have flowed back and forth between rabid condemnation and naïve acceptance. Old and young, saint and sinner, sage and scholar have been flung about by waves of controversy. Changing ideas and new discoveries have given way to new concepts; and the present situation is pretty much of a muddle.
The purpose of this book is to present a review of evidence on the historical and scientific species problem, and to suggest a possible solution in light of recent discoveries. These suggestions will lead to a deeper and more sympathetic attitude on the part of all toward the great problems of science and religion. The conclusions reached in this study may clear the way for a fuller and deeper appreciation of the perfect harmony between the Bible and nature.
